FAYETTEVILLE - Junior college player Linzee
Roby signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the University
of Arkansas, head coach Jamie Pinkerton announced.
Roby pitched and played first base for the
Cowley College Tigers in Arkansas City, Kan. Last season, she had a record
of 34-8 on the mound with a 1.50 ERA, 42 games started, 25 complete games,
11 shutouts, 243.1 innings pitched and 195 strikeouts. At the plate, Roby
hit .362 in 163 at-bats with 59 hits including seven doubles and two triples.
"Linzee comes from a successful junior college
and will add depth, experience and maturity to our young pitching staff,"
A two-year starter at Cowley, Roby was named
first-team all-region and all-district as well as MVP of the region, conference
and her team. In addition, she was named to the Dean's Honor Roll, Phi
Theta Kappa society and school ambassador.
"When not pitching, she played first base
and hit for the Tigers so she will add depth to the lineup as well," added
A Cashion, Okla., native, Roby attended Cashion
High School where she played softball and basketball.
