By Melanie Robotham, UA Women's Communications
FAYETTEVILLE - Junior college player Linzee Roby signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the University of Arkansas, head coach Jamie Pinkerton announced.
Roby pitched and played first base for the Cowley College Tigers in Arkansas City, Kan. Last season, she had a record of 34-8 on the mound with a 1.50 ERA, 42 games started, 25 complete games, 11 shutouts, 243.1 innings pitched and 195 strikeouts. At the plate, Roby hit .362 in 163 at-bats with 59 hits including seven doubles and two triples.
"Linzee comes from a successful junior college and will add depth, experience and maturity to our young pitching staff," said Pinkerton.
A two-year starter at Cowley, Roby was named first-team all-region and all-district as well as MVP of the region, conference and her team. In addition, she was named to the Dean's Honor Roll, Phi Theta Kappa society and school ambassador.
"When not pitching, she played first base and hit for the Tigers so she will add depth to the lineup as well," added Pinkerton.
A Cashion, Okla., native, Roby attended Cashion High School where she played softball and basketball.
