-- Russellville, Ark., native Kelli Cole has signed a letter of acceptance
to the University of Arkansas and will join the Lady Razorback volleyball
team for the 2004 season.
"We are very excited about Kelli's commitment
to join the Arkansas volleyball program," said head coach Chris Poole.
"Kelli was a ball girl for us when she was in elementary school and to
now have her join our program is a real thrill for everyone. She is a
very good student, a quality person and a great volleyball player. She
has accepted an academic scholarship to our university and we are benefiting
from that decision."
A 5-3 defensive specialist, Cole was an all-conference
and all-state selection for the Russellville Cyclones her senior season.
A four-time all-region selection, Cole was also an all-Arkansas first-team
selection and a member of the Arkansas High School Coaches Association
All-Star team. Her East all-star team will play in Barnhill Arena this
"Kelli will play as a back row defensive specialist
and the libero position for us," said Poole. "She is very quick, works
hard on the court and plays fearless defense. These are certainly qualities
that we believe can help our program continue to climb in national recognition."
The Lady Razorbacks return to the court in
early August for pre-season drills with the competitive season beginning
Sept. 3-4, in Pacific, Calif. For more information about Arkansas volleyball
